Arrive in the picturesque wine town of Saarburg and board the MS Switzerland from 4:00 PM. Take some time to explore the historic town centre with its charming half-timbered houses and famous waterfall before settling into your cabin. In the evening, enjoy your first dinner on board and meet your fellow travellers.
After breakfast, begin your first cycling stage along the Saar towards Luxembourg. The route takes you through peaceful river landscapes and charming villages to Wasserbillig, where the Saar meets the Moselle. From here, continue cycling along the Moselle towards Trier, Germany’s oldest city.
In Trier, there is plenty to discover, including the impressive Porta Nigra, the Roman Baths and the historic city centre. Your ship awaits you in Trier.
After breakfast, leave Trier behind and continue along the Moselle. The route takes you through vineyards and peaceful riverside landscapes towards Riol or Mehring.
Along the way, you will pass through traditional wine-growing villages and enjoy beautiful views over the Moselle valley. In the afternoon, there is time to relax on board or explore the surrounding area.
Today’s cycling stage takes you deeper into the heart of the Moselle wine region. Cycle through extensive vineyards and picturesque wine villages towards Piesport, one of the region’s historic wine-growing communities.
Continue along the Moselle to the beautiful town of Bernkastel-Kues. Its medieval market square, colourful half-timbered houses and narrow streets make it one of the most attractive towns along the Moselle.
After your cycling tour, enjoy some time to explore the town or sample one of the region’s famous wines.
Today’s route follows the winding Moselle through some of the most beautiful vineyard landscapes in the region. Cycle via Traben-Trarbach, a historic wine town known for its Art Nouveau architecture and wine cellars.
Continue to Zell, famous for the legendary wine label Zeller Schwarze Katz. Stroll along the riverside promenade, explore the old town or enjoy a glass of local Moselle wine.
Today you cycle towards two of the Moselle’s most picturesque destinations. Your route takes you through vineyards and along the river to Beilstein, a beautifully preserved medieval village often referred to as one of the prettiest villages on the Moselle.
Continue to Cochem, one of the most famous towns in the Moselle valley. The impressive Reichsburg Castle towers above the town and provides spectacular views over the river and surrounding vineyards.
Spend the evening exploring Cochem or relaxing on board.
On your final day, you can choose between a relaxing day in Cochem or another cycling stage of approximately 53 kilometres to Koblenz.
Those who choose to cycle will follow the Moselle towards its confluence with the Rhine. The journey ends at Deutsches Eck, where the two rivers meet.
Alternatively, you can enjoy a leisurely day in Cochem before the ship continues to Koblenz.
After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to the MS Switzerland. Disembarkation takes place by 9:00 AM in Koblenz.
Before continuing your journey home, you may wish to explore Koblenz and visit Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle meets the Rhine, or take the cable car to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress for spectacular views over the city and rivers.

Would you prefer to bring your own bicycle? In some cases this is possible, provided it is requested in advance and subject to available space on board. For e-bikes, the battery must be removable. Tandems and tricycles cannot be taken on board.

Are you travelling by car? Parking options directly in Saarburg are limited. As an alternative, the car park near Konz railway station is recommended. Parking is free and unrestricted, with a short train connection to Saarburg.
If you prefer to park closer to the embarkation point, there is an unattended car park near Saarburg railway station, costing approximately €10 per week. Reservations are not possible.

Travelling by Train
Saarburg is easily accessible by train via Trier Hauptbahnhof, followed by a short regional train journey to Saarburg. From the station, it is generally only a few minutes’ walk to the MS Switzerland’s mooring.
