General information about cycling holidays
A cycling holiday is an active way of travelling, allowing you to explore your surroundings by bike.
You can choose between two types:
- Touring cycling holidays, where you cycle from place to place while Travel2Move arranges luggage transport and accommodation.
- Centre-based holidays, where you stay in one location throughout your trip and enjoy day rides from there without luggage transport.
This allows you to choose the type of holiday that best suits your pace and preferences.
Advantages of a cycling holiday
- Freedom and flexibility – set your own pace and stops
- Discover a new place every day
- Suitable for couples, families and groups of friends
- Comfort through luggage transport → cycle light
A cycling holiday is suitable for anyone who enjoys being active and spending time outdoors.
Most routes are easy to cycle, and thanks to the option of renting an electric bike, a cycling holiday is also ideal for beginners or families.
At Travel2Move, the daily cycling distance depends on the route and difficulty level:
- Average: 40–60 km per day
- Shorter routes: 25–35 km for beginners or families
- Longer routes: up to 70 km or more for sporty cyclists
Thanks to luggage transport and e-bike options, these distances are manageable for both beginners and experienced cyclists.
No, you do not. Most cycling holidays offered by Travel2Move are designed for recreational cyclists.
A basic level of fitness is sufficient. If you would like extra comfort, you can rent an electric bike.
In bad weather, you can usually continue cycling, but of course you are free to skip a day if you prefer.
Yes, during our cycling tours or point-to-point holidays, your luggage is transported daily to the next accommodation.
This means you only cycle with a day bag. During centre-based holidays, your luggage stays in one place, as you return to the same hotel each day.
The route descriptions or GPS files are usually available in Dutch, English, and German.
In some cases, they are also available in French or Italian, depending on the destination.
The cost of a cycling holiday depends on the destination, the type of trip, and the level of comfort.
A centre-based holiday in the Netherlands is often more affordable than an international cycling holiday.
At Travel2Move, you will find cycling holidays starting from an attractive entry-level price per week, always including accommodation, breakfast, route descriptions, and luggage transport. The exact price is shown clearly per person for each trip.
In some countries, wearing a cycling helmet is mandatory, while in others it is strongly recommended.
At Travel2Move, we advise wearing a helmet at all times, especially on descents or busy cycling routes.
When helmet use is mandatory, this is clearly stated in the travel documents.
Bikes, routes & accommodation
For most trips, both options are possible. You can bring your own bike or reserve a rental bike or e-bike through Travel2Move.
The rental bikes are ready upon arrival and are maintained by local partners.
Yes, the routes are well signposted and are often also available as GPS files or through a route app.
You stay in comfortable hotels, guesthouses, or B&Bs.
The accommodations are carefully selected for location, comfort, and hospitality.
Wi-Fi and bicycle storage are standard facilities.
In most cases, pets are not allowed, but tailor-made options may sometimes be possible.

Yes, for many trips you can plan rest days or choose shorter routes.
This allows you to adapt the trip to your fitness level or personal interests along the way.
Booking & practical information
The best time to book a cycling holiday is well in advance, ideally 6–12 months ahead, especially for popular trips in spring or summer.
Outside the high season (April–October), you often benefit from better prices and more choice.
At most starting locations, you can park at the hotel or near the departure point.
Sometimes this is free of charge, and sometimes a small fee applies. Details about parking are included in your Travel2Move travel documents.
A day backpack with water, snacks, sunscreen, and your personal belongings is essential.
